Hi guys - I was checking in and decided to check out the advertizements listed at the right side of our site pages. It seems prudent to know what we are all being pitched. Although right now, I have Pimp your Page and Rachael Ray's Diet - how DOES the computer know how much weight I should lose? - a moment ago there was an advertizement for a children's literary agency and for "traditional publisher seeks books." I checked out both of these and they appear to be from the same company - at least… Continue

If any of you are interested in reading or following my "real" blog it is http://onwordsblog.blogspot.com. Although my first book won't be out until next Fall, I'm involved in a virtual book tour.

I had the pleasure of sharing a critique table with two fairly new groups.... one yesterday in Carson and another this afternoon in Reno. What wonderful writers and discussion! I hope both groups remain viable and enthusiastic. Monica and Julie, please go ahead and add your groups here. And for those interested in a group near home, please check these out.
Oh, and several people came down from Truckee to Reno this afternoon. As winter rears its chilly head, you may very well choose… Continue

Hello, Everyone. I feel a bit odd about joining this group since I don't live in Nevada, but Grass Valley isn't that far away. Next Fall when my first picture book comes out I hope to have a book signing in Reno so maybe I can meet some of you there. In the meantime it will be nice to get to know you online here. If you want to know more about me please check my website, www.janetanncollins.com or my blog, http://onwordsblog.blogspot.com/

I represent the Virginia contingent of Nevada SCBWI - you wonderful folks adopted me at the first Nevada SCBWI Mentorship Program! In no small part thanks to that program my debut novel, When the Whistle Blows
, is being published by Philomel Books in June 2009! I'm forever indebted and forever a fan of Nevada SCBWI!!

Hi - it's Suzy here. I'm so happy to have this way for us to communicate and keep in touch. I have to confess I'm doing this quickly and haven't read Ellen's post so I may duplicate what she has to say. We have such a great group of writers and illustrators. This forum (right word? I'm really a techno dinosaur but am working at it. . .) will let us say hi, look for critique groups and partners, make plans for carpooling to conferences - all that good stuff. Please do remember that anything you… Continue

Hello everyone! Suzy and I hope you will take advantage of our new social networking page. This is a great way to get to know each other, organize critique groups or online critiques, learn more about events, and even talk about what's bugging you. Just please stay respectful! You may say anything you like. However, if someone chooses to be hurtful, he or she will be asked to tone it down or stop posting. Blog comments, etc. can be moderated, but we would prefer to work on the honor system.… Continue
