I was involved with Unnamed Writers a few years ago. What seems to happen with them is that as writers get published, they move on. All the original founders are no longer active with the group, which has been in the area for quite a few years. So it depends what you're looking for. They do have critique groups, which tend to fill up, so often the crit group you'll find will be newer writers, which isn't always a bad thing. The larger group brings in speakers, but often they recycle them, so you won't always get new information. Also, because many of their members remain unpublished, there's a great push toward self-publishing, something I personally don't recommend, except for niche projects.
Thank you for replying and sharing your thoughts about this writer's group. I was a little disturbed about the push to self-publish. I don't think that's something I would want to do with my book project. Again, thank you for your comments. I appreciate it.
